SADIE O'NEILL PORTFOLIO
My Projects
This page shows a brief description of some projects i have worked on. From drama devising pieces and school productions to dance performances. These emphasise my passion for storytelling through film and performance.

01
The Devil's Bargain
The Devil's Bargain is a piece based on the play "Doctor Faustus" which was written by Christopher Marlowe. We explored The Seven Deadly Sins and how we could use them to create the our final devising project.
02
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead
"Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead" is a play by Tom Stoppard that reimagines the events of Shakespeare's "Hamlet" from the perspective of two minor characters, exploring themes of fate, free will, and the nature of existence. We explored Act 2 for our script piece.

Return to the Forbidden Planet
"Return to the Forbidden Planet" is a jukebox musical that combines Shakespeare's "The Tempest" with 1950s sci-fi film elements, set to a soundtrack of rock and roll classics. We performed this at our local theatre.
04
The Cycle
In our devised piece titled "The Cycle," our exploration delved into the pervasive theme of monotony and inaction across various aspects of life.

05
Puppetry
This project involved designing and building a Bunraku-style puppet from scratch, combining mechanical functionality with aesthetic considerations. The module focused on the fundamentals of puppetry, emphasising the 'illusion of life' and the role of crafted objects in engaging an audience.
06
Model Making
This module introduces key tools and techniques for designing and visualising concepts for theatre and live performance. through hands-on learning, we develop skills in Photoshop, SketchUp, 3D printing, laser cutting, and 1:25 scale model making, enabling us to effectively communicate and realise their ideas in a professional context.

07
Hamlet
This module presented us with the opportunity to undertake a design project for Shakespeare’s play, ‘Hamlet’. Split into two section, it focused on set design and costume design. We explored the play’s themes, historical context, and modern relevance. This allowed us to reimagine this play for a contemporary audience.
08
On Going
I am currently working on a few different projects. I am choreographing a contemporary dance, writing a script for a short piece Holocaust, and designing the set for the next school production, "The Accidental Death of an Anarchist".
